Story

Thank you for visiting our Just Giving team page . We are raising money for a cause very close to our hearts and for an exceptional charity. Whether you are visiting just to read our story or to donate, thank you for showing an interest.

Rob's father, Colin, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in April 2017. He started having reduced movement in his hands during the winter of 2016/17 before beginning to struggle with activities that required hand dexterity; such as opening a clothes peg or doing up a shirt button. It is almost impossible to put into words the impact which a fatal diagnosis of a loved one can have.

Steph never had the chance to meet Colin but has two close friends who have also lost their father to MND. Having worked in palliative care and met patients with the disease she has seen firsthand the devastating effect it can have on individuals and those close to them. We have chosen to run this half marathon to support those affected by the disease and help fund the research required to prevent others from going through this awful condition.
