Story
On 6th March, we're swapping our warm beds for a cold night under the stars (and likely some Lincoln drizzle). We aren't just doing this as a company; we’re doing it as a team. The Ruddocks 'sleepers' stepping out into the cold are: Paul and Sally Banton, Nikki Langwell, Tris Palser, Ady Potter, and Zarah Torrington. Plus any others who would like to take part.
Our 'Satellite' Sleep Easy event, is running simultaneously with the main YMCA event at Lincoln Cathedral. We’ll be just down the hill at the Ruddocks premises on Great Northern Terrace; spending the night outdoors on-site, likely sharing the garden with our resident fox, who is a regular visitor to the office garden!
We're inviting our friends, family, and valued customers to stand (or sleep) with us.
1. Donate: Every pound goes directly to YMCA Lincolnshire to support local people in crisis.
2. Join Us: If you’re feeling brave, why not join our satellite event? Let us know and we’ll add your name.
3. Share: Spread the word. The more people who know about the "Sleep Easy" campaign, the more impact we can have.
Please donate what you can. Let’s make sure everyone in Lincolnshire has a safe place to call home.Like all those supporting this important campaign, we're united in one goal: to raise vital funds and awareness for the rising crisis of homelessness in Lincolnshire and across the UK.
At Ruddocks, "sustainability" isn't just about being green, it’s about people. As a recently certified B Corp, we believe business should be a force for good. Whether it’s giving our team paid time off to volunteer at the Trussell Trust or providing the printed assets for YMCA Lincolnshire Sleep Easy campaign, supporting our community is in our DNA.
But homelessness is a growing challenge that needs more than just printed posters.
• In the UK, thousands of people are forced to sleep rough every night.
• Homelessness is often the "invisible" result of the cost-of-living crisis, following the same trends that have seen food bank usage soar by 37% in the last year.
• YMCA Lincolnshire provides more than just a roof; they provide the support, housing and life skills needed to help people break the cycle of homelessness for good.
“Earning B Corp status was a milestone, but it’s what we do with that platform that matters. Sleeping out for one night is a small sacrifice to ensure the YMCA can continue their life-changing work.” Paul Banton, Managing Director.
