Story
On Sunday, 26th April 2026, we – Ben and Max – will be running the London Marathon in memory of our best friend, Jamie, who tragically died by suicide in February of this year.
The three of us had been inseparable since the age of 11. From the very first day of school, sport became the foundation of our friendship – whether it was football, rugby, athletics, or simply running together, we were always side by side. Jamie’s energy, humour, and loyalty shaped so many of the moments of our lives, and it feels only right that we now honour him through the very thing that brought us together.
We have chosen to run in support of Place2Be, a charity that provides vital mental health services in schools, helping children and young people to build resilience and access support early. Their work is crucial in ensuring that no young person feels they have to suffer in silence and that those who are struggling have a safe space to turn to.
Losing Jamie has been devastating, but it has also reinforced to us how essential organisations like Place2Be are. By supporting children and young people from an early stage, Place2Be can help prevent tragedies like this and give future generations the tools and support they need to look after their mental health.
This run is not just a challenge for us; it is a tribute to our best friend. Every mile will be for Jamie and all those still fighting battles that are too often invisible.
We would be deeply grateful for any support you can give – whether through a donation or by sharing this page. Together, we can help Place2Be continue its vital mission and ensure that more young people find the support and hope they need.
Thank you,
Ben & Max
