As chairman of Veterans for Veterans in Care, I am delighted to let you know about our combined, Great North Run fundraiser.

This year, a dedicated team of six runners is proudly participating in the Great North Run 2026 on Sunday, 13th September, to raise vital funds for Veterans for Veterans in Care (VfViC). Alongside them, the Careport Group, which operates ten care homes and manages another, is joining forces in a heartfelt initiative. Between the 7th and 13th of September, residents from each care home will collectively walk or cycle 13.1 miles — mirroring the half marathon distance — contributing to an inspiring total of over 144 miles.

Many of our bravest veterans now face their own quiet battles with aging, illness, or isolation. By taking on these miles, we are turning our collective care into action. Every step we take and every mile we pedal is a message of appreciation, ensuring that those who sacrificed so much receive the comfort, dignity, and specialised support they deserve in their later years.

We urgently need your support, please join us in standing side by side for those who served by supporting this company-wide fundraiser. Your generosity will help us provide essential care to our "Forgotten Army," of veterans who have already given so much but still need us today. Together, we can make a lasting difference in their lives.

Our collective goal is to raise £6,130 to sustain and expand these vital services. Every donation counts towards honoring our veterans’ sacrifices and ensuring they are never forgotten.
