Story

This Spring, Eimear and Pia are swimming 22 miles each for Diabetes UK!

Eimear's story:

On April 16th last year I (Eimear) was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and it put my whole life on hold while I had to relearn how to take care of myself. It's a physical and mental toll that I would love to live without, but unfortunately there is no cure yet. Diabetes UK is the leading organisation in research, education and support and we would love to help raise funds for them in their mission to increase accessibility to life saving care and technology, education on how to live it, and hopefully one day finding a cure. This is a cause very close to my pancreas so it would be mean a lot to us if you're able to support us and Diabetes UK.

About us:

We're both keen swimmers and have been doing so most of our lives, whether it be in a heated pool, 7 degree lido, or braving the sea. Our team name "Runners Gone Swimming" is a reference to us meeting at our (frankly awful) Runner jobs in the film industry. Together we will total 44 Miles (or nearly 71km if you come from any normal country 🇸🇪 🇮🇪) over the course of 12 weeks and update you as we go. We'll also host other fundraiser events, so keep your eyes peeled while we trial the HIGHS and LOWS of Pias’s moods and Eimear’s blood sugar levels. Please sign up to be our Sugar Daddies and donate to Diabetes UK if you can.

Thank you so much for the support!
