Story
Earlier this year we were devastated to find that our fit and healthy Dad (Dennis Young) was diagnosed with Leukaemia.
Whilst this is currently manageable it makes you reflect on all the times you have been fortunate to share. We had an amazing childhood, from family bike rides, to spending hours in the sea tipping us out of boats and over waves, driving the car and caravan round France (with mums dreadful map reading) to running Laura to the horse on Christmas Day. He would pick us up from anywhere in the middle of the night to ensure we get home safely, rescue Ruth from spiders, and very often fix our cars, including making us aware when ours tyres aren't bald etc. His love of cars continues with regular attendance at the Stony Stratford Car show and many others.
Then the energetic Grandchildren came along, Dad (Grandad) got stuck in, he changed the nappies, fed them, and most of all play with them. They all adore their hands on Grandad who still regularly play fights and chases them round the house making them scream and giggle. Helping out with school homework, where even now the Three little Pigs houses made out of card are still used at the children’s school.
Dad loves his sports, mainly Badminton and spends much of his retired life keeping fit playing Badminton. He runs his own Badminton group and even has Richard as a regular member now!
Over the years Dennis has become a great friend to many and is quite often known as the handy man or gadget man who can help fix anything or has a gadget to to fix things… again his children rely on this ! He is honestly a real life super hero and loved by everyone.
This awful disease couldn't have got anyone more loved and appreciated, we are asking for peoples support in giving back, not just for Dad and our experience but to help others in the future who many not be as fortunate with the support around them.
So we are using our networks and asking people to dig deep, so many people are touched by this dreadful disease, the day is in sight where there will be a cure so we want to do all we can to help get it there !
