Story
On Sunday 3rd May 2026, liver patients, relatives, supporters and Regional Liver Unit staff will take part in the Belfast City Marathon. This year, we are proud to have 11 relay teams competing, comprising of 55 runners, the largest number of runners to date! Together, we aim to promote the outstanding work of the RVH Liver Support Group and raise vital funds to support liver patients and their families across Northern Ireland.
The RVH Liver Support Group has been providing practical and emotional support to patients — including children — and their families for over 28 years, having been founded in 1998 by Kay Duffy OBE. The charity supports people living with all types of liver conditions and offers help to both patients and carers.
In addition, the Group provides strategic funding for education and training for staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital and the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, as well as supporting medical research that will benefit current and future liver patients. The charity also works tirelessly to reduce stigma and increase awareness of liver disease throughout Northern Ireland.
Please support our runners and help us raise the funds needed to ensure this vital charity can continue providing care, advocacy and hope to liver patients and their carers across Northern Ireland.
