Hey friend! Welcome to the Smelly Bugs page. I hope you've come here to join me in climbing mountains, hills, stairs, whatever to support antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research. Tackling AMR can seem like an endless mountain to climb, but there ain't no mountain we can't handle here! So, bring it on!

The goal for the team is to 'climb' in flights of stairs the equivalent of mount Everest! Everest is about 8850 m, my phone tracker registers 1 flight of stairs for about 3 m, which means we will need to climb 2950 flights until the end of May!

Why join?

In 2019 1.2 million people died worldwide from antibiotic-resistant infections, this is more than malaria or AIDS, yet most people are not aware of antibiotic resistance or how serious it is.

178 people are diagnosed every day with an antibiotic-resistant infection, and this does not even count the many people with mild cases who need to take multiple courses of antibiotics before their infection is beaten.

The money we raise will support Antibiotic Research UK - a small society working hard to raise awareness of AMR, support patients and people affected by resistant infections, and fund AMR research.
