Raising money for University of Brighton and St Barnabas House

Story

Following on from my 2024 Charity Challenge, during which I undertook four Marathon/Ultra walks, (a total of 200 km) I thought that I would increase the distance for 2025. I plan to undertake six Marathon/Ultra walks, a total of 300km.

As always the Challenge is raising money for; St Barnabas Hospice who looked after Sal so very, very well in the last few months of her life and for the “Sally Scholarship” that Rhiannon and I set up in her name for Nursing students at the University of Brighton.

If you would like to make a contribution please choose which Charity you would like to support (or both if you want). Details about the Charities can be found below.

“Sally Scholarship”

Sally was a valued and loved member of the nursing administration team based at the university’s Falmer campus.

Due to Sally’s commitment to her role and to those nursing students she supported, Rhiannon and I have generously funded a scholarship to honour her memory.

“Sally loved her job at the University, especially interacting with and helping the students. She was passionate about enhancing the learning experience.

We thought it was appropriate that the Scholarship should assist nursing students to have opportunities to understand patients and communities in settings outside of their clinical placements.

The “Sally Scholarship” has already helped a number of students undertake placements that they would not have been able to attend without the financial assistance of the Scholarship.

St Barnabas House Hospice

During the last months of her life, Sally was supported by the fabulous team at St. Barnabas House.

St Barnabas House is a charity based in Worthing which provides palliative and end of life care to adults with life-limiting illnesses.

They believe everyone facing life-limiting illness should receive the care and support they deserve. Their mission is to provide dignity, comfort and choice for adults who need specialised, supportive care.

Sally was provided with specialist supportive care in our home which made a huge difference to Sally and everyone around her. We will always be grateful for the support provided by St Barnabas.
