Story
What are we doing?
In April 2026, we (Sam & Max) will be completing the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise funding and awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
To donate please use Sam’s team member link on the page, as we’re doing it as a joint effort ☺️
A note from Sam
I’m running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Cystic Fibrosis - a cause that’s very close to my heart as members of my own family live with it every day. So while I’ll be busy battling blisters, listening to Max’s questionable chat and the sudden urge to stop for snacks at every mile, they’re the real heroes dealing with CF with far more grit and humour than I could ever manage. If my slightly sweaty struggle can help fund research, treatments and support, then it’s 13.1 miles well spent. Any donation, big or small, will give me an extra boost to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Thank you for the support! 🏃♂️💙
A note from Max
I’ve known and met multiple people impacted by CF and have seen how it impacts themselves and their families like Sam’s, along with understanding how genetic conditions have a wider impact on people and everyone around them from my own family.
So when Sam asked me to run in support of this great cause and to help push him all the way to the finish (even if he complains about my chat…) I simply couldn’t refuse!
What is Cystic Fibrosis?
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition affecting over 11,000 people in the U.K., with 1 in 25 people carrying the gene that causes it.
The gene affected controls the movement of salt and water in and out of cells. This results in a build-up of mucus in the lungs, digestive system and other organs, causing a wide range of challenging symptoms affecting the entire body.
What does the Cystic Fibrosis Trust do?
The cystic fibrosis trust supports sufferers and families impacted by CF through:
- Funding cutting-edge research
- Improving care standards
- Providing continuing support to those impacted by the condition and their loved ones
What does the fundraising go towards?
£29 could ensure someone with CF has the support to apply for the benefits they are entitled to, helping fund an hour of expert welfare advice with a specialist adviser.
£138 can ensure that someone with CF can afford daily medication, crucial to their health.
£173 can fund an emergency grant, supporting families in need.
£230 can help someone with CF buy essential items, by funding a health and wellbeing grant.
£500 could pay for a day’s worth of essential laboratory materials at the CF Trust’s Strategic Research Centres, helping scientists to develop groundbreaking new treatments for everyone with CF.
£863 could fund a funeral grant and help reduce the burden of a grieving family dealing with the loss of a loved one.
£9,890 could run the CF Trust’s Helpline for a month, enabling them to be there for people with CF, their families and anyone who needs support at critical times.
