Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are a group of 4 friends who have blundered into a challenge to open water sea swim between all the Scilly Islands this September 2024.

Jon Bull and Andrew Joint signed up for the 2-day challenge in 2023 and persuaded Matt Gee and Chris Hoyle to sign up for the same in 2024. 10 minutes before the event was opened for applications there was an executive decision to move from the 2-day event to the same distance over 1 day.

It looked like a good idea when it was a concept. Now it is on the near horizon, reality is setting in, and the nerves are starting to jangle.

There are 5 sea swim legs for the day ranging from 600m to 6km, and with a total swim distance as the crow flies (none of us swims in a straight line) of just over 15km.

Again - it seemed like a good idea when we signed up months ago. Let’s blame a rush of blood to the head.

We have all been affected by cancer within our immediate circles of families and friends, so a cancer charity seemed a natural choice for some fundraising.

A Cornish based cancer charity is especially pertinent to support for recent lost family members.
