Story
We are taking part in the Alzheimer’s Society Jurassic Coast Trek26 in memory of our dad, Robin, who battled Alzheimer's for a number of years. Dad was a much loved, intelligent man who was also highly skilled from a manual perspective, turning his hand with precision to any and all tasks around the house. Watching him lose those skills and ultimately his ability to communicate was horrific and heart breaking, though we were fortunate that he recognised us to the end.
One in three people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime. Together with the Alzheimer’s Society, you can help to give vital support to those who need it today, hold decision-makers to account and fund ground breaking research to transform the future for everyone living with dementia.
The event itself is a 26 mile trek across a variety of terrain with a total elevation gain of 901 meters and is expected to take 9-10 hours to complete. Starting and finishing in Swanage, we will walk along the Jurassic Coast, inland to Corfe Castle and on to Studland where we will re-join the coast and for the final stretch back to Swanage.
Thank you for your support.
