Raising money for The Fostering Network

We are the UK’s leading fostering charity and the essential network for fostering. We support foster carers, fostering services and the wider sector to transform children’s lives. We work to ensure all fostered children and young people get the best possible care and experience stable family life.

Story

Surrey County Council is excited to announce a special Foster Walk for its employees, dedicated to raising funds for The Fostering Network. This inspiring event will take place during Foster Care Fortnight, from May 13th to 26th, 2024, and aims to bring the community together to support foster families and children in care.

A Walk with Purpose

The Foster Walk will start at the beautiful Woodhatch Place in Reigate, following the scenic paths through the park, looping around the outdoor fitness area, and returning to Woodhatch Place. This route is designed to be accessible for all ages and fitness levels, making it a perfect family-friendly activity.

Why We Walk

Surrey County Council is committed to supporting foster care initiatives and raising awareness about the vital role foster families play in providing safe and nurturing environments for children. By participating in the Foster Walk, you are helping to:

Support Foster Families: Funds raised will provide essential resources and support for foster families, ensuring they can offer stable and loving homes for children in care.

Raise Awareness: The walk will highlight the importance of fostering and encourage more people to consider becoming foster carers.

Enhance Programs: Donations will support innovative programs like the Mockingbird Family Model, which creates extended family networks to support foster families and improve outcomes for children.

Provide Training: Funds will be used for training and development programs for foster carers, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to provide the best care possible.

Join Us for a Memorable Week

Participants are encouraged to wear orange to symbolise support for foster care. Along the route, there will be storytelling stops where participants can share their experiences related to fostering, interactive stations like the "Mockingbird Tree" for messages of support, and photo opportunities to capture memories and promote the event on social media using hashtags like #FosterWalk and #FCF25.

Make a Difference

By joining Surrey County Council's Foster Walk, you are not only enjoying a beautiful walk through Woodhatch Place's scenic routes but also making a meaningful difference in the lives of foster children and families. Together, we can create a brighter future for those in need.

Organise your own walk today and be part of this heartfelt journey!
