We are raising money in memory of our dear friend Simon Mirfin who sadly passed away on the 27th September 2023 at the age of 46. Simon was diagnosed with Facioscapulohumeral Muscularly Dystrophy from the early age of 11 which is a rare Genetic Disease that affects the muscles of your shoulders, upper arms, lower legs.

However, this did not stop him and he walked to school refusing offers of lifts. Football was his life from a young age. Straight home from school, change of clothes and onto the Cricket field for hours of football. With the traditional jumpers for goal posts.

Unfortunately Simon started to lose his mobility and this charity helped both him and his family gain a deeper understanding of the condition and also provided ideas needed for ongoing support, future care needs and equipment that would help Simon to lead the best independent life. Despite the pain, Simon remained forever optimistic and full of wit and humour.

In memory, a group of school friends - Sean Curry, Paul Bosworth, Paul Crossland , Adrien Harris, Mukesh Patel and friends have decided to take on the challenge of completing The Three Peaks Challenge on 20th April 2024 to raise much needed funds and awareness. We are sure Simon will be looking down laughing at the prospect of his "old" friends with a host of ailments taking on the task.

They are making a difference for tomorrow, accelerating progress in research and driving the campaign for access to emerging treatments.
