Story
Hello everyone,
I'm running the Marathon Des Sables at the end of April. It's a 6 stage, 250km race through the Sahara Desert and is 6 marathons in 6 days carrying your own kit and self-supported. I'll post a tracking link here once available for those who want to follow along form home. I'm raising money for two fantastic charities, the Malaria consortium, and Missing People.
The Malaria consortium work across Africa on the prevention, treatment and control of Malaria and other communicable diseases, with a focus on children under 5. It consistently ranks highly in terms of impact per £ of donation and last year was top of Give Well's league cost effectiveness league tables. Having had my own (quite unpleasant!) experience of Malaria, I can safely say the work they do is really important, and any money donated here will make a huge difference.
Missing People work to help find missing persons in the UK and support their families. They offer a lifeline to people who have had a loved one go missing and is a charity I have supported alongside CIL over a number of years. I've met with several of the team who work there, and they go above and beyond to help families in highly distressing times; someone goes missing in the UK every 90 seconds.
This page is a teams page which allows you to apportion your donation however you would like; I've given 50:50 and would encourage anyone unsure to do the same but it's up to you where you'd like any donation to go. The first link is for Malaria Consortium and the second is for Missing People. Thanks so much in advance, both are great causes and even small donations will go to a great cause.
Cheers!
