Team fundraising for ISLE STAND UP TO SUICIDE

Raising money for ISLE STAND UP TO SUICIDE

In recent years the Isle of Man has seen a significant increase in death by suicide. Our aim is to provide support to individuals who may find themselves in a suicidal crisis. We offer a phone helpline which anyone in a suicidal crisis can call and QPR - suicide prevention training for all.

Story

Stand Up to Suicide – Isle of Man: What We’re Supporting

Isle Stand Up to Suicide (Charity No. 1351) is a vital, locally registered charity established to offer an alternative lifeline for Islanders in crisis. It provides a free, confidential helpline (2 pm–10 pm daily on 803040) and, where needed, short-term phone counselling to help people through their “darkest days.” The charity also delivers QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) suicide prevention training—giving everyday community members, including farmers, the confidence and skills to recognise warning signs and direct someone toward help.

Since launching in October 2023, the charity has already trained 169 individuals in suicide prevention, and continues to expand its reach across the island, including into traditionally under-supported rural and farming communities . Farming is particularly isolating, and the stigma around seeking help is a big issue—mental health struggles in the sector are often rooted in loneliness, financial stress, and weather uncertainties.

The Tough Mucka Challenge — Sunday 5 October 2025

Mark your calendars: on Sunday, 5 October 2025, three Ramsey Hockey Club teammates—Richard (that’s you!), Dan, and Lewis—will take on the Tough Mucka, a grueling obstacle-course challenge in Ballakillowey.

Designed to test your physical and mental grit, the course features mud, monkey bars, walls, hay-bale hurdles, tire runs, and the beloved slip-and-slide. You’ll have the option between a challenging 8 km or 14 km course, with no hard time limit—though being swept off the course happens as the event progresses.

Why We’re Doing It Together

• Because we’re up for the challenge. We thrive on pushing boundaries—on the field, and through life—and this is a unique way to test ourselves.

• Because mental health matters deeply—especially among men, young people, and in farming communities, where struggles are often invisible and silent.

• As someone working in agriculture, you know firsthand how farming can amplify isolation and stress—and how urgently mental-health support is needed in the sector.

How You Can Make a Difference

• Donate today—every penny helps Isle Stand Up to Suicide run its helpline, training, and farming outreach.

• Share our story—it only takes a moment and helps break stigma.

• Cheer us on—your encouragement fuels us through every muddy obstacle and brings vital awareness to mental health.
