Raising money for Breast Cancer Now and Target Ovarian Cancer

Story

In August 2026, Adam and I will be taking on the 250/7 Challenge — running 250 miles in 7 days.

Starting at the summit of Snowdon and finishing back home in Cullompton, we will run the equivalent of seven ultramarathons in seven consecutive days.

We are raising money for two charities that mean a great deal to us and our families:

Breast Cancer Now and Target Ovarian Cancer.

This challenge is deeply personal to both of us.

Adam is running in memory of his wife, Shelly, who tragically lost her battle with ovarian cancer on 23rd July 2022. It took just 10 months from diagnosis for ovarian cancer to take her life.

Since then, Adam and the Running for Shelly community have been taking on challenges to raise awareness of ovarian cancer — often referred to as a silent killer due to how difficult it can be to detect early.

Through their efforts to raise awareness, two women have already reached out to say they sought medical advice after seeing the information shared by the Running for Shelly group and are now receiving treatment. Knowing that awareness can genuinely save lives is what drives Adam to keep pushing forward.

By supporting Target Ovarian Cancer, we hope to continue spreading knowledge about the early signs of ovarian cancer and help other families avoid the heartbreak that Adam and Shelly’s loved ones have experienced.

For me, this challenge is also inspired by my sister-in-law Mel, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2024 at the age of 36. After treatment and further preventative surgeries to reduce the risk of future cancers, she is thankfully now in remission.

Her journey has shown our family just how life-changing and frightening a cancer diagnosis can be, but also how important early diagnosis, treatment and support can be.

Last year I completed a Coast to Coast run across Devon raising money for Breast Cancer Now, and the support from friends, runners, cyclists and the wider community was incredible.

This year we want to go even further.

The 250/7 Challenge is not just about running 250 miles — it’s about raising awareness, bringing people together, and supporting charities that are working tirelessly to change the future for people affected by cancer.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help support the life-changing work these charities do.

Thank you for supporting us on this journey.
