Story
This year , we are a team of 7 who are walking the 23 miles of Edinburgh’s mighty stride kiltwalk in aid of multiple sclerosis society Scotland.
We are walking to provide funds for this charity which supports people and families living with MS and also funds research into new therapies and the hope of a cure .
We are doing this in memory of Isabel Fraser (Izz).
Izz is the sister of one of our team, Michaela, who lived with MS since her early 20s and due to other health issues, sadly passed in December 2022 aged 52yrs.
The loss of Izz is devastating, and seems all the more cruel when she had fought to live with such a devastating illness for so long.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that affects your brain and spinal cord. In MS, the coating that protects your nerves (myelin) is damaged. This causes a range of symptoms like blurred vision and problems with how we move think and feel.
Currently over 130,000 people in the UK are living with a MS diagnosis , with it affecting 3 times more women than men.
