Story
Join the Somersworth Police and show some support for the Strafford County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) this year as SPD once again goes razor less for a reason. This is the third year SPD has participated in this event. For the month of October 2020 the Officer(s) at SPD will be showing support for the CAC by growing facial hair. We depend on the generosity of our officers and the community for monetary donations which support the CAC. This program allows heathy competition for the officers at SPD who are not only competing internally, but are also competing with other agencies in Strafford County to raise money for our CAC. So, for the month of October, if you see an officer in Somersworth looking a bit more manly, with some patch work, some short stubble, or even a full beard covering their generally clean shaven baby faces know its for an organization who supports child victims of physical and sexual abuse, and their families. Know that those officer(s) have donated to the CAC as well and would appreciate any donation you can give.
Helping child victims of physical and sexual abuse and their families requires an approach that addresses the physical, emotional and legal dimensions of abuse. It requires a coordinated victim centered response from expert professionals to reduce stress throughout the investigation and intervention process. Child Advocacy Centers work in partnership with all the necessary agencies and specialists to coordinate a plan of action to provide high-quality, specialized services for abused children and their families to heal, survive and thrive.
