We are three local women from Brecon who have set ourselves the most challenging adventure all in the name of fundraising for Velindre Cancer Centre.

WHAT WE’RE UP TO

Fundraising for Velindre Cancer Charity through a series of challenges over the next 16 months starting with….

THE LIDO CHALLENGE

In the first 2 weeks of Sept 2026 we will be collectively swimming the 150 miles from London to Cardiff, in outdoor lidos along the M4 corridor, finishing in Llanishen Reservoir, Cardiff. We will also be lobbying our MPs at the Houses of Parliament and our MSs in Senedd Cymru to highlight the plight of cancer service funding in Wales.

STATUE OF LIBERTY CHALLENGE

If that wasn’t enough in June 2027, as part of Team Velindre, we will take part in the Statue of Liberty Swim, a 1-mile loop around the Statue of Liberty followed by a 2.2-mile open-water swim across the Hudson River from Manhattan to New Jersey

ALL FUNDS RAISED THROUGH THESE CHALLENGES WILL GO TO VELINDRE

We'll be taking part in this event with the aim of raising vital funds for Velindre Cancer Centre, also known as The Hospital of Hope.

Velindre Cancer Charity provides services in Wales above NHS provisions by investing in supportive care services, funding innovative technologies, and driving forward transformative research and clinical trials.

Did you know? Collectively, donations raised through the Statue of Liberty Swim Challenge can directly support one of the 40+ clinical trials active at Velindre today – and will even fund up to 4 Clinical Nurse Specialist's salaries for a year.
