Story

We have been moved to walk in memory of Enid MacNeill and Grandma Edith Acons who both passed away due to cancer. St Lukes were very helpful during Enid‘s illness. Their community nurses were kind and supportive. They helped to arrange for equipment such as a hospital bed and oxygen. Since Enid died in January St Lukes has reached out to the family to offer support in the form of counselling. They are a wonderful organisation who help many through a very dark time and we are happy to help them by walking through our fabulous city at night.
In the team there is Catriona (Enid’s daughter) Caroline (Enid’s daughter-in-law), Laura (Catriona’s friend) and Abi (Edith Acons granddaughter and Catriona’s friend). We are called The Stayer Uppers because back in the day we liked to stay up late, listen to music and chat rubbish. Times have changed now and we all like an early night so this challenge of walking through the night is testing our staying power to its limit! But we are determined and we will tap into our inner stayer uppers!
Night Strider Virtual Challenge is St Luke's biggest and most popular fundraising challenge of the year! While taking in some of the city's finest views, every step helps St Luke's to continue to support local people and their families when they need it most.
Over the past 8 years, Night Strider has helped St Luke's to raise an incredible £656,937. By joining this year, we are helping to continue raising vital funds for St Luke's patients and their families.
