Help us save Gorran Haven Quay! 🚣♀️🌊
On 12th September 2026, our crew from St Goran Gig Club will be taking on one of the biggest challenges in the gig rowing calendar — The Great River Race in London.
We’ll be rowing an incredible 21.6 miles along the River Thames, alongside around 300 crews from across the UK and beyond. It will be a huge physical challenge, but we’re proud to be taking part for something that means so much to our local community.
💙 We’re rowing for The Quay to the Village
For around 140 years, Gorran Haven Quay has stood strong against the sea, protecting our harbour and waterfront and providing a safe haven for boats, fishermen and generations of locals and visitors.
But now, the quay is in serious trouble.
A fissure has appeared and, although temporary repairs have been made, major work is urgently needed to prevent further deterioration. Without the necessary repairs, another winter of storms could cause catastrophic damage.
The consequences would reach far beyond the quay itself. Boats and moorings could be lost, the harbour and breakwater could become unsafe, and the impact would be felt throughout our village and the local businesses and community that depend upon it.
The estimated cost of the essential works is around £120,000, with the Harbour Trust contributing approximately £40,000. That leaves an urgent fundraising target of £80,000.
£68,114 has already been raised — but there is still a way to go.
So, as a crew who know just how important our coastline and harbour are, we want to do our bit.
If you can spare anything at all, please sponsor our crew and help protect the quay for future generations.
Every donation, no matter how small, brings the village one step closer to reaching its £80,000 target.
Help us keep our quay standing.
Help us protect our harbour.
Help us preserve a piece of Gorran Haven for generations to come.
💙 Thank you for supporting our crew and The Quay to the Village. 🚣♀️🌊
