I'm taking part in Beat The Trails 13 Tors on 10 October 2026 with a walk in support of Marie Curie and also for Pancreatic Cancer UK. This is a 14 mile walk across Dartmoor and while my daughter said 'that's not very far', to me it's a definite challenge but one that I fully intend completing!

Marie Curie provide compassionate care and comfort for people at the end of their life, as well as support for their families who are walking alongside them.

Pancreatic Cancer UK offer information, clinical guidance and emotional support to patients and their families. They invest in research to find new treatments and improve survival rates.

These causes are really meaningful to me because they helped our dear friend Norman Perkin and his family.

I can remember the first time I spoke to Norman at the Launceston YFC Christmas party in December 1974! At that time I had no idea that I would end up marrying his lifelong friend! Later on I milked recorded for Norman for many years and we always enjoyed a bag of sweets during recording which always took quite a while because we chatted too much!! Our favourites were liquorice allsorts and I will definitely take a packet with me on the walk! Over the years we've spent many happy hours with Norman and his family and it was such a blow when he was taken from us all.
