Story
This walk is inspired by Louise Hailey, a deeply respected and cherished colleague who sadly passed away in April 2025, in loving memory of Paul Hendy and every family member and friend we have lost to a brain tumour.
By taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks on Saturday 28th June 2025, we honour Louise and Paul’s strength and spirit. This is more than just a physical challenge, it’s a heartfelt expression of solidarity, remembrance, and hope for the future.
The Yorkshire Three Peaks is a demanding trek that covers the three highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Spanning approximately 25.5 miles with over 2,000 metres of ascent, it will test both physical endurance and mental resilience. We are a team of mixed abilities and ages from NDORMS, University of Oxford, the NHS and a secondary school!
We’re doing this to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity, because brain tumours are among the most devastating forms of cancer, yet they remain significantly underfunded compared to other types. In the UK alone, over 88,000 people are currently living with a brain tumour. High grade tumours can progress rapidly, often with limited treatment options.
Survival rates for brain tumour patients have seen little improvement over the past 40 years, highlighting the urgent need for more research and better treatments.
The Brain Tumour Charity is one of the UK’s leading organisations driving pioneering research, supporting patients and families, and campaigning for systemic change. They rely entirely on voluntary donations to continue their work, making every contribution crucial.
By raising as much money as possible, we hope to assist with a search for a cure, improve treatment options, and provide vital support to those affected. It’s a powerful way to honour loved ones, support ongoing journeys and make a lasting impact in the fight against this disease.
