Story
Many people in the UK have now received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. But millions of people around the world will have to wait until 2022 at the earliest for a vaccine (Oxfam, 2020). As cases of coronavirus continue to rise day by day, there are many vulnerable people who remain at risk.
The charity Tearfund are committed to following the example of Jesus, and to care for all people. They have partnered with the People's Vaccine Alliance to campaign for everyone in every country to have access to a tested Covid-19 vaccine. They are working with local partners and churches in over 50 countries to share accurate information about Covid-19 vaccines and to advocate for governments to include vulnerable groups (such as refugees) in their vaccination programmes. They also seek to support the most vulnerable with emergency food and hygiene supplies while they wait for the vaccine.
We, a group of 11, are taking on 'The Climb' challenge. Over the next three weeks, we will be climbing the height of mountains from all around the world on our staircases. From East to West, Aled will be facing Aoraki; Jess is scaling Mt Kosciuszko; Evie, Mount Fuji; Stephen, Mount Elbrus; Michael and Adam, Kilimanjaro; Marnie, Table Mountain; Ben, Mont Blanc; Denzel, Ben Nevis; Daf, Aconcagua; Carys, Mount Massive. We are hoping to help raise much needed funds for Tearfund's vaccine appeal to support people around the world before, during and after vaccines become available. Would you be able to sponsor us in our challenge?
