Chloe's story
Hello everyone! I'm Chloe, the Head of Healthcare Services at Superdrug. Running has been my sanctuary for years, a way to connect with nature and thrive in the great outdoors. The idea of running the London Marathon always felt like a distant dream, but fate had a different plan, and I'm incredibly fortunate and thankful to have secured a spot on the Superdrug team, all in support of the amazing charity, Marie Curie.
As I prepare to hit the pavement, the anticipation of the marathon's energy and the promise of a fun-filled atmosphere are driving my excitement. Training during the challenging winter months has been demanding, but every early morning run and every extra mile is a small sacrifice for the larger goal – supporting an organisation that holds immense significance for me.
Cancer has touched the lives of so many, including my own friends and family. Marie Curie's mission to combat this relentless disease resonates deeply with me, making each stride a step closer to making a tangible difference. The marathon isn't just a run; it's a commitment to a cause that is supporting so many people.
Caitlyn's story
I wasn’t always a keen runner, in fact, I used to loathe the annual 1500m at school, deciding running just ‘wasn’t for me’. As I got older and headed to University, I started to fall in love with running and the buzz I got from reaching another milestone. I ran my first marathon in 2021, after training 3 times and facing cancellations due to COVID. It was so tough, but I reminded myself that it’s a privilege to be able to choose the pain of running a marathon, a position those who are ill could only wish to be in.
Jumping back into the training after a string of injuries hasn’t been easy and I’m sure everyone will be very tired of me talking about how tired I am and how hungry I am!! But I’m so excited to be able to run the London Marathon for such a great cause. Working closely with the Marie Curie team as part of my role, I’ve seen the incredible impact the money we raise has for those experiencing end of life care and for their families. It makes me even more determined to rise to the challenge!
Join Caitlyn, Neerij & Chloe on this exhilarating journey as they tackle the marathon, not just for personal achievements, but as passionate advocates for Marie Curie. Together, let's turn every mile into a symbol of hope and progress in the fight against cancer.
