In July 2025 Pine Tree class will be setting sail on Queen Galadriel (pictured) on a four day voyage around the Solent. The class will get involved in not just the sailing but all aspects of running the vessel. Teamwork will be vital on-board to ensure that the boat operates well. From hoisting sails to the navigation out at sea, the young people will operate in teams throughout their voyage.

We have teamed up with the Cirdan Trust to make this trip possible. Here’s a little more about what they have to say about our voyage:

The once-in-a-lifetime experience allows young people to develop life skills, increase self-confidence and self-esteem, build resilience, improve communication and teamwork skills. Our voyages also help improve the mental health and wellbeing of those onboard.

A sailing voyage takes people away from their usual surroundings where they may be subject to negative influences and puts them into an alien environment where they must understand and accept authority, live and work as a team and be resilient.

As the voyage progresses, they learn to accept the disciplines and constraints of life on board and alongside their peers and fellow crew members face up to the challenges that produce the positive outcomes. The experience helps give them the tools to progress and succeed in the future.

Understandably an experience such as this has significant costs involved. To ensure that the trip is accessible for the whole group we are fundraising centrally to raise £2000.
