In April 2025 I was devastated to lose one of my closest and dearest friends of over 50 years.

I myself and several close friends have also experienced cancer personally and we all know so many people who have been affected by cancer and the devastating effect it has on our families and friends, but some, myself included, have been luckier than others.

Jan was a much loved wife, mum, new grandma, daughter, sister, auntie and friend to many and we are all devastated to have lost her so suddenly.

None of our lives will ever be the same again without her in them.

Although Jan didn't actually use the facilities of the hospice, they were in touch and were there for her for when she needed them, but sadly she died sooner than anyone really expected.

Consequently, my family and friends who are running as "Team Hole & Friends", all knew Jan in different ways and are running the 2025 Great North Run in her memory and also in the memory of her much loved Mum who died only a few months after her daughter.
