Story
Many of you will know that contributing to the battle against brain tumours is a deeply personal cause for us. In May 2024, Abi was diagnosed with a rare and inoperable PXA brain tumour. Despite an amazing medical team, proton therapy and a genetic inhibitor treatment - neither of which would have been available on the NHS a few years ago - her tumour has continued to grow.
There is a desperate need for more research into better, more targeted treatments. Brain tumours are the leading cancer killer among people under 40 and, while more common cancers have seen a huge increase in survival rates, high-grade (cancerous) brain tumour survival rates lag with only 18% of patients surviving more than 5 years.
We are doing the Twilight Walk to raise money for research that could prevent other young people having to face what Abi has. Will you support us?
