MND - ALS - SLA
TODAY THERE IS NO CURE FOR MND
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and the spinal cord. It can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk, swallow and eventually breathe. MND attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work. It does not usually effect the senses such as sight, sound, feeling - you become a prisoner in your own body.
• MND kills a third of people within a year and more than half within two years of diagnosis.
• Six people are diagnosed every day.
• Up to 5,000 people are fighting MND at various stages of the disease at any given time.
• Six people die each and every day.
Enzo's Story:
In February 2017, aged 59, Enzo was diagnosed with MND, he was told "You have motor neurone disease and there is no cure".
Enzo lost his life on 27th July 2017; just 5 Months after he was diagnosed with MND.
On Sunday 10th October, we will be participating the Royal Parks Half Marathon, to raise awareness of this cruel disease that leaves the patient and family traumatised, devastated and in despair.
Your donations will help support those effected by MND and fund vital research into this devastating disease in the hope that the words:
"You have MND and it is curable"
Enzo is loved by everyone, and will be remembered for his kind nature and love for life, especially by his family and friends. Enzo was such a fun and active man who enjoyed his job as a decorator. Sadly, when the disease took over he lost the ability to walk. We will complete this Half Marathon in memory of Enzo ; A loving father and husband whose family meant everything to him.
We would be very grateful if you could make a donation to our Just giving page however big or small. If you cannot donate we would really appreciate it if you could please share our page.
Thank you so much in advance!
