British Heart Foundation have been funded to research over the last 60 years to pioneer treatments for different types of cardiovascular diseases and defects. Every 3 minutes, British Heart Foundation discover another breakthrough, and these are research that have taken decades to resolve.

The British Heart Foundation have been looking for ways to access the South Asian community to tackle this health inequalities, and to overcome barriers for ground breaking research to begin for the south Asian people.

According to BHF stats, 7.6m people living in UK are suffering with cardiovascular disease. People of South Asian heritage face around a 50% higher risk of developing coronary heart disease compared to the wider population. This isn’t just a statistic—it’s a story that plays out in families across Birmingham, London, Leicester, and beyond.

Every week under the age of 35 years of age, we are losing on average 12 lives to cardiac arrests.

Raising awareness for the South Asian community is crucial and lifesaving. This is a national appeal and is here to stay.

We are supporting, Amina Hussain the Founder of The Asian Business Board with raising this awareness and raise funds to continue with tackling this health inequalities so that South Asians can be part of the greater depth of the research to save more lives. The charity is very personal to Amina Hussain, as her son also undergone an open-heart surgery as a baby 14 years ago. He was born with a rare heart defect, and was the first in UK to be operated with his condition. His heart was reconstructed successfully thanks to BHF research. The founder of ABB has now made it her mission to give back to this life saving charity and continue to support millions of people with underlying cardiovascular issues.
