Raising money for Unseen

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2023 · 2 April 2023 ·

Unseen supporters take on the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2023!

Story

Welcome to our page, we're glad you're here!

We are a team of fantastic 4 who will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on 2nd April and Bidvest Noonan have our backs! We will be running for Unseen.

So a bit about us (in photo order);-

John Rendall - I have been married to Helen for 14 years although we have been together for 27 years. I am proud dad to two grown up daughters. I enjoy going to the gym but I haven’t done any long distance running since leaving the army over 20 years ago. This opportunity was the perfect way to start the New Year and I am really looking forward the challenge.

Andrew Smith - I have two kids, 12 and 9 who are both into sports and performing arts (football and dancing respectively). Like to keep fit, mainly HIIT and boxercise. I have run a few 10K’s but never a half marathon so a new training experience for me. I have always wanted to do a half marathon and to have the opportunity to run on behalf of Unseen is an honour to support their hard work they do in the name of modern-day slavery. Training is going well but at times tough to break through the ‘it’s too cold, I feel tired from a day’s work’ excuses which come in useful but not when the start line is looming… but break through the psychology when I know I am running for a good cause!

Liam Kearney - I am a dad to a 14-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son. I have enjoyed taking part in charity events in my 20’s and the training involved but due to life and finding the time, it has been side-lined. This gives me kick needed to train rather than sign up to a gym and not attend but more than that, personally for me it’s about setting a target and achieving it!

John Boss - I am the Account Director for the Amazon contract. I have been married for 7 years and have 3 beautiful children who keep me on my toes. I have been running ever since I could walk, I love exercising and more specifically team sports (football & cricket). I ran the London Marathon 6 years ago; the experience scarred me and have not put my running shoes on since I signed up for this challenge. The company credo of putting people first, plays a huge part in how I live my life. If I can help others by putting my body through this vigorous challenge, then I am only happy to help.

A bit about Unseen; -

Unseen is committed to working towards a world without slavery. It is currently estimated that there are 136,000 individuals affected by modern slavery and human trafficking across the UK, and over 50 million people being exploited across the globe. It's time for these crises to end.

Unseen supports survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking to rebuild their lives, helping them to escape their situation through the use of the Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline and sustainably rebuild their lives in our safehouses. We tackle the root causes of the issue by informing those who may come into contact with slavery in their everyday work of the signs and actions they can take, and influencing the government to develop a long-term strategic approach to support all victims and end modern slavery.

Most importantly, we cannot do what we do without your help. Thank you so much for taking the time to support this cause and help make a difference today and in the future.

It means a lot that you took the time to read our page and we appreciate you supporting us in any way you can. We much appreciate any donations you can make to this wonderful cause.

-John, Andrew, Liam, and John.
