Raising money for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably)

London Winter Walk · 27 January 2024 to 28 January 2024 ·

We are the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) and we're leading a movement against suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK.

Story

Our company has chosen CALM as our charity to support this year and next and we will be taking part in the London Winter Walk on Saturday 27th January 2024 to raise money for them.

Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is a mental health charity that runs a free, confidential and anonymous helpline as well as a webchat service, offering help, advice and information to anyone who is struggling or in crisis. Their mission is to prevent suicide in the UK.

We have chosen this charity because mental health in construction is a serious issue. With suicide killing more people than falls from height, the mental wellbeing of construction workers definitely needs to be highlighted to break the stigma, increase awareness and improve support.

By raising funds for CALM, we can make a difference: £8 can fund a potentially life-saving call on their helpline; £24 can provide support materials for a family who have lost someone to suicide; £109 can equip a volunteer; and £440 can train a professional helpline worker to speak to people who are struggling.
