Story

On 19th March 2018 I lost my husband and my kids lost their amazing dad Scott after a very short, bravely fought battle with cancer. It was important to Scott that he didn't die at home as he wanted our house to remain a safe and happy place for his family to live after he was gone so he made the incredibly brave decision to spend his final days in St Andrews Hospice. Although he only survived for 7 days in the hospice the care he received in that short time led by the wonderful Dr Magnus Hellsten and all the team was something we will never forget. From the moment we arrived the care Scott, and all of us, received was just incredible and Scott finally got back the choice and dignity that he was so cruelly robbed of by that vile disease. As a result of that care and the ongoing support that the kids and I continue to receive we have decided to do all we can for as long as we can to raise funds for the hospice to ensure that every person who chooses to make the brave decision to spend their final days there can do so.

For the past few years #teamdoc have taken part in The St Andrew's Hospice Midnight Walk even taking part virtually during Covid so we're delighted to be back walking in person this year. Setting off at midnight on Saturday 18th June we will each walk 8, 10 or 13 miles . You are always so generous and I realise times are so tough but even the smallest donation will help so If you can, please help us help the hospice, help others. Thank you xx

If you are walking in memory of a friend or loved one, as a way of keeping fit or simply to do something a little different on a Saturday night whatever your reasons, please remember that by taking part, you are giving our patients and their loved ones the opportunity to make lasting memories together .

It is because of amazing people like you that the team at the Hospice can continue to provide care and comfort for people in the Hospice, in your community, in their homes and for their loved ones.

Every step you take and every pound raised makes such a huge difference. Thank you for taking on this challenge and thank you for raising funds to help support the people in our community who need it the most.
