Story
We have a team of 12 wonderful (Or mad!) people who decided to take on the 3 Peaks challenge and represent glh in supporting Macmillan.
Big shout out to our heroes:
Gavin Taylor, Lauren Burrill, Amy Morris, Gareth Dougherty, Cheryl O'Brien, Hanna Moore, Tom Roderick-Holland, Paul Knightley, Richard Sabberton-Coe, Richard Young, Sarah Childs, Vicky Marshman
Considered one of Britain’s toughest outdoor challenges, the National 3 Peaks Challenge takes in the dizzy heights of Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1,085m). Over the course of 24 hours, they will trek around 26 miles and ascend to a total height of almost 3,000m!
Here is what some of them say about why they've decided to sign up and how they feel about it:
Richard Young: ''Like many people across the world, lockdown has lead me to spend far too much time on youtube, particularly watching outdoor type videos trying to escape the 4 walls of my living room, imagining I was out there on a mountain…. Then this challenge came along all in the name of a worthy cause so I jumped at it.''
Paul Knightley: ''I fancied a different challenge other than running marathons and is a great charity to raise money for!''
Richard Sabberton-Coe: ''I expressed a tentative interest and found myself signed up! How do I feel about it?: I’ll have all the gear but no idea. Nervous, but excited.
Vicky Marshman: ''This is something to focus my energy on whilst the Hotel is closed & keep myself fit and healthy ( not getting any younger) love a challenge. I've always wanted to do it, seen friends do it before, and always been envious. I'm looking forward to seeing and experiencing some amazing scenery, in some beautiful parts of the UK. It will be so rewarding to raise money for this great charity!''
