Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Myself and Eilidh have decided to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival and complete the 5k with Teenage Cancer Trust this year in order to raise money for teenagers who are affected by Cancer and to share our friend Graeme’s story who was diagnosed with cancer in 2023 at the age of 19.

Graeme’s Story💙

Every day, in the UK, 7 young people aged 13-24 will hear the words “you have cancer”. This number is expected to raise to 10 by 2030.

Graeme, our coworker, our friend, was one of them in June 2023. Being diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer in his spine called Ewings Sarcoma at the age of 19, his life turned upside down. Having 14 cycles of intense chemotherapy and spending 6 weeks in Manchester for radiotherapy. Having 2 fights with sepsis along the way, he finally was told he was in Remission in February 2024.

In October 2024, when he returned to normal life at University, he had chest pains. After a month of waiting for tests and results, he was told his cancer is back and will never be cured.

In December, when his second lot of chemotherapy started, he had an encounter with death. His cancer grew significantly and it was putting too much pressure on his lungs and doctors were concerned it would be too much on the heart.

Currently, his chemo is shrinking his cancer, but unfortunately it won’t ever go away.

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only charity in the UK to provide teenagers with cancer a clinical nurse specialist dedicated to their age group. He has had loads of 1 on 1 support with his nurse, goes to group meetings monthly, where he chats away to those facing a similar situation and gets freebies such as dominos (his favourite)!

They even supported him when he was in Manchester too, providing space to interact with others’ going through radiotherapy.

Any donations and support will be greatly appreciated to raise money for Graeme and teenagers who are affected by cancer💙 Thank you for reading x
