Story
In January we enthusiastically took on a running challenge to get moving after the usual Christmas over indulgence….. both David and I ran 75km in the month of January and with a sense of achievement decided to put our names in the ballot for the Great North Run 2023….. a few weeks later and we had confirmation that we have been successful. Yikes.
The furthest we have run to date is 12km so need to do some serious work over the next few weeks in terms of both distance and stamina if we are going to complete it.
As motivation we thought we would create a sponsorship page to raise money for Myeloma UK in memory of my mum.
My mum died in March 2018 after being diagnosed with Myeloma 5+ years prior. During the period from diagnosis till her death she was on various different Consultant led treatment plans which helped manage the disease and allowed her to continue to live life as normally as possible. There were also support groups which she attended through Myeloma Org which she found comforting and helpful, meeting other people with the same illness. We hope that any money raised will fund research that improves diagnoses, treatment and care for those affected by Myeloma.
Ros completed the Great North Run in 1982 so hopefully we can run in her footsteps and raise money for a charity that supported both her and our family during her illness. :)
