Story
Chris and Tim are trekking 26 miles on June 1st 2024 this year in honour of Lesley Butland. Les is Chris's mum/Tim's mother-in-law, and she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's back in 2021. Lesley continues to be cheerful, fun and loving to all - but the disease has very much taken hold, and the family is gradually coming to terms with the steadily increasing effects. Les's father, Alf, died of Alzheimer's in 1997.
Lesley has always been an unbelievably gifted, talented, kind and good-natured person, and it has been so hard to watch her abilities and independence reduced by Alzheimer's.
The family are encouraged by the recent advances in medication for Alzheimer's, and whilst these have come too late to prevent Les's suffering, we wanted to raise money to help future sufferers have a more positive outcome.
Alzheimer’s Society works towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. They do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.
Chris and Tim - and all of the family - would be super grateful for any support!
