Raising money for Motor Neurone Disease Association

Belfast Marathon Relay 2024 · 5 May 2024 ·

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Hello from the McConnell property team. We are entering 2 teams this year and our chosen charity is MNDANI , The Northern Ireland Branch of the Motor Neurone Disease Association which aims to provide the best possible support to local people with MND, their families and carers. We would appreciate any support you can afford to give.

MND is the name given to a group of related diseases affecting the motor neurones in the brain and spinal cord. It affects people in different ways so no two people will have exactly the same symptoms or experience of MND.

MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord

MND leaves people 'locked-in' a failing body, unable to move, talk and eventually breathe

The risk of developing MND is 1 in 300

Every day 6 new people are diagnosed

MND kills 1/3 of people within a year of diagnosis

There is no cure

Here is what your donation can help to do:

£10 provides an information pack for a newly diagnosed person with MND support and information phone line for one hour

£300 provides basic level respite care for one day

£4,000 funds a person with MND to participate in clinical trial for a year, bringing us one step closer to finding a cure

£20,000 can fund an expert researcher for 200 days
