Team ROA - fundraising for Racing Welfare

Raising money for Racing Welfare

Racing Welfare supports the workforce of the British horseracing and Thoroughbred breeding industry. We give professional guidance and support to the dedicated stud, stable and support staff whose work is vital for the well-being of our sport.

Story

On Sunday 5 July 2026, Team ROA, Harriet Rochester and David Letts, will be saddling up for the ultimate test of stamina: the Brecon Beacons 10 Peaks Challenge, raising vital funds for Racing Welfare in support of all of racing’s people.

This is no five-furlong sprint… it’s a 23-mile marathon trek covering 10 peaks, including heavyweights Pen Y Fan and Corn Du, with a testing 5,800ft of elevation and an expected finishing time of 10–12 hours. Safe to say, we’ll need to stay the distance and produce a strong finish up the final climb!

Starting at Cray Reservoir and finishing at TalyBont Reservoir, we’re hoping to avoid any stewards’ enquiries, keep our footing over the tricky terrain, and make sure neither of us pull up before the winning post.

We’re taking on this challenge for Racing Welfare, ROA’s charity partner, and who supports the workforce of British horseracing. From stud and stable staff to racecourse teams and those working across the industry, Racing Welfare provides invaluable support covering mental and physical health, housing, careers, addiction, money matters and much more - helping racing’s people thrive from recruitment to retirement.

Every donation will help Racing Welfare continue its vital work for the people who keep our sport on track.

Please support Team ROA as we attempt to go the full distance in the Brecon Beacons – maybe weighing back in a few pounds lighter! Thank you🐎
