Raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity

A stunning 13.1-mile route taking in many of the capital’s world-famous landmarks, including four of London’s eight Royal Parks – Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens.

Story

In October, Marcie, Lara and Jo will be running a half marathon on the 11th and Lara will be running a 10 miler on the 18th to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity, a cause that has become incredibly personal to us

Stuart, our step dad and fiance, has recently been diagnosed with a high-grade glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain tumour. Sadly, glioblastoma is currently incurable, and there is still so much we don’t know about it. Brain tumours have historically received far less research and funding than many other cancers, and there is still a desperate need for better treatments and, ultimately, a cure. More research could mean more options, more time and more hope for people and families facing a diagnosis like ours.

Stuart has been in our life for the past 14 years, so we’ve grown up with him by our side. Over those years, he has become one of the most important people in our lives. He has been there for so many of the biggest moments of our lives, as well as all the ordinary ones in between, and the thought of him being unwell is incredibly difficult to put into words. Fourteen years is a huge part of our lives and we can’t imagine our family without him.

Running these distances is going to be a challenge, but it feels like such a small thing compared with what he and our family are facing. We wanted to turn something difficult into something positive and raise money towards research that could make a real difference to people affected by brain tumours.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how much, we would be incredibly grateful. Every donation will help The Brain Tumour Charity fund vital research and support families going through one of the hardest things they may ever have to face.

Thank you so much for supporting us, our stepdad and this incredibly important cause. ❤️
