Raising money for Fight for Sight

This year, the Salisbury family are taking on 20 challenges for Fight for Sight to help raise a whopping £200k for sight saving research, bringing their total funds raised to £1million! Can you take on a challenge and help them?

Story

In 2005, when I was just 4 years old, I was diagnosed with a rare genetic eye condition called Choroideremia. It’s a degenerative condition that causes progressive sight loss and ultimately blindness. It usually starts with night blindness in childhood, before gradually narrowing the field of vision over time.

Growing up, I’ve always known my sight would deteriorate. But thanks to the incredible support of My mum , family, friends and so many generous people, we’ve been able to turn that reality into action.

My family set up the Tommy Salisbury Fund within Fight for Sight to help fund research into treatments and, one day, a cure. Together, we have already raised over £840,000 and we are now pushing towards an incredible milestone:

£1 million raised for sight-saving research.

Because of this fundraising, clinical trials have taken place. In fact, I was part of a clinical trial myself in 2019, and years later there has been no deterioration in my treated eye. That progress simply would not have happened without funding.

This year I’m taking on my biggest running challenge yet:

• Rome Marathon – 22 March

• London Landmarks Half Marathon – 12 April

• Amsterdam Marathon – 18 October

Every mile I run is for the future — mine, and for everyone living with Choroideremia.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, you are directly helping to fund life-changing research. If you can’t donate, sharing this page means just as much.

Thank you so much for your support — I’ll see you at the finish line 😉
