Topic of Cancer is an award-winning Guildford based charity supporting Immunotherapy and Cancer research.

Last year I was diagnosed with oesaphageal cancer. I was asked to participate in an exercise research trial looking at the impact of exercise on oesaphageal tumours during chemotherapy, up till major surgery. Topic of Cancer fund this research.

The exercise was so beneficial to me both physically and emotionally. My tumour shrunk more than anticipated from the chemotherapy and I know the exercise aided this. Now I'm recovered I would like to give something back to say thank you. Running is still hard but the support from the exercise team post operatively and through a second round of chemotherapy has helped me move back to fitness.

I am running with a team of 11 others. My youngest 2 daughters Lydia and Miriam, El and Ben from the exercise research team and 7 other friends who want to support me in this. I'm so grateful to the support from this lovely team in doing this run!
