Story
I am reaching out to you on behalf of Team TV (Thompson/Vital Energi) to seek your help in raising funds for Cancer Research UK. Our journey began back in 2011 when I started volunteering at a Race for Life event after my wife, Julie, underwent treatment for breast cancer, which involved surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. During her treatment, I felt helpless, unable to do much beyond being with her during her chemo sessions. So, when the opportunity to volunteer presented itself, I seized it as a way to contribute meaningfully.
Over the past 14 years, I have dedicated my time to volunteering for various events such as Race for Life, Pretty Muddy, Shine Walk, and now, Relay for Life. Throughout this journey, I have been supported by my family and have even managed to encourage a few of my Vital Energi colleagues to join our cause last year. This year, we have an even bigger team, and we are determined to surpass the £2500 we raised last year.
Relay for Life is an incredible event that brings communities together to fundraise for Cancer Research UK. Teams of friends, families, and colleagues unite to raise funds for research to save and improve lives. The event features a relay where team members take turns completing activities such as laps around a track, walks through a park, or other challenges to symbolise that step by step, we are beating cancer.
The event is not just about the relay, it also includes games, music from local performers, and a Candle of Hope ceremony to reflect and honour everyone affected by cancer. Our mission is to beat cancer, and to make breakthroughs tomorrow, we need your help today. All the money raised at this event will be donated to the Beatson in Glasgow.
Your support for this worthy cause means a lot to us. Thank you for considering contributing to our fundraising efforts and helping us make a difference.
