Members of the Virdee family (Minder & Rupinder, Kuljit & Kulvinder, Dee & Gurdeep, Mandy & Sarbjeet, Jas & Ravinder, Narinder & Sunni) will be collectively walking/running 26 miles during the month of September as they participate in the ’Marsden Marathon 2021’ to raise money for The Royal Marsden Hospital. In February 2021, our Dad was diagnosed with liver cancer, this came as a huge shock to us all. After CT scans, MRI scans and a biopsy, a decision was made for Dad to go in for an embolisation procedure at the Royal Marsden, Chelsea. After being advised that he would only need to stay for a few days to recover from the procedure, he spent a total of 7 weeks between the general ward and critical care ward. We are forever grateful & indebited to the excellent consultants and specialist nurses for their round the clock care given to Dad and clinical expertise. Due to the COVID pandemic, he was not able to have any visitors go in to visit him. As you can imagine this was an extremely worrying time for his family. Subsequently, we were both relieved & reassured to learn that the specialist nurses were attentive and thorough in their care for him and treated him as a member of their own family. He is home now and still in recovery but remains under their excellent care. Thanks again Royal Marsden team.
