Story
Hello, and thank you for visiting our fundraising page!
We’re a team from Weston Athletic Club — George McCallum, Rob Osment, Rob Robertson, Steve Lovell, Ryan Flynn and Lee Kennedy — and on 31st May we’ll be taking on the Weston Hospicecare Mendip Challenge.
We’ve signed up for the toughest option: a 30-mile ultra marathon. It’s going to be a real test, but we’re proud to be doing it in support of such an important cause.
Weston Hospicecare provides vital care and support to people and families when they need it most, and their work has never been more important.
If you’re able to donate, no matter the amount, it would mean a great deal to us — and will make a real difference to the Hospice.
Thank you so much for your support.
The 30 mile route is the most demanding challenge. Starting in Wells, walkers ascend into the Mendips at Priddy before continuing on to Draycott. From there, the route heads towards the top of the spectacular Cheddar Gorge, before crossing the Mendips from Tynings Farm to Crooks Peak. The journey continues past Crooks Peak with a steep descent into Loxton. The final stage takes walkers along Roman Road, followed by a scenic loop around Uphill, passing the hospice, before finishing at Weston Cricket Club.
Thank you!
Receiving an end-of-life diagnosis is one of the hardest experiences a person and their loved ones can face. At Weston Hospicecare, our specialist palliative care teams provide compassionate social, emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical support, ensuring no one faces this journey alone.
Only 20% of our funding comes from the NHS, so we must raise £5.5 million each year to continue providing our care free of charge. This is only possible thanks to the incredible support of our community.
The Mendip Challenge is a fantastic sponsored event that brings people together to have fun, challenge themselves and raise vital funds for Weston Hospicecare. With 30, 20, 10 and 5 mile routes along the beautiful West Mendip Way, the challenge is open to individuals, teams, families and dogs.
Every step you take helps us be there for patients and families when they need us most. Join the Mendip Challenge and help make a difference.
