Raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity and SLOW - Surviving the Loss of Your World

Story

The photo up top is Teddy at his second birthday party having the time of his life. Teddy was funny, kind and clever - he loved ice cream, Hot Wheels cars, music, trips to Poundland and his baby brother Laurie. When Teddy was two and a half he started to be very unwell, vomiting all the time and a bit wobbly on his feet. Four weeks later, in September 2023 he was diagnosed with brain cancer (Ependymoma). Following 7 surgeries, long stays in two hospitals and a magical Christmas at home with Laurie, he tragically died in March 2024.

There isn't a lot you can say to a bereaved family when they have lost their little butter bean, their gorgeous boy. But you can sponsor them to run a half marathon. We're doing this to keep going, get some endorphins, honour Teddy and support two charities who have helped us during this impossible time.

The family team is made up of Teddy's parents Georgina & Silas and Daniele, Teddy's favourite 'Uncle Danny' who he adored.

Please choose one or more of the charities and hit the 'give now' button below.

Here's why they mean so much to us:

SLOW

Daniele is running for SLOW - a charity which helps bereaved parents and siblings after the loss of a child in a family. Georgina and Silas attended their first SLOW meeting 3 weeks after Teddy died. Since then, it's been a place to regularly connect with a community of friends who truly understand their pain and support with kindness & advice. They attend monthly and imagine Laurie will benefit from the sibling groups when he's older.

The Brain Tumour Charity

The Brain Tumour Charity funds vital research into childhood brain tumours. The funding is severely lacking due to how rare cancer like Ependymoma is - less than 50 new cases a year in the UK. They provided invaluable information about Teddy's condition and how to manage as a family, and run a Facebook group which helped us connect with other families in the same dreadful situation. Their podcast was comforting listening for us and Georgina and Silas are proud to run in their vest.
