Raising money for Birmingham Women's Hospital and The British Red Cross Society

Story

After 10 years, I'm returning to the London Marathon, this time navigating training as a Mum of 2 very active boys!

* Please note that double buggy will not feature in the actual marathon run, and I'll be using the morning of the 26th April to have some 'me time'.

I'm raising money for two charities: Birmingham Women's Hospital and the British Red Cross.

Why #TeamBWH?

During a routine midwife check up in my pregnancy with my second son, Etienne, I was told he had a suspected heart condition, and was prepared for delivery at 26 weeks pregnant. I was referred to the Fetal Medicine department at Birmingham Womens Hospital where they concluded that the pregnancy could continue, and the in depth heart scans showed nothing of concern. Matthew and I will be forever grateful to the staff for their care and superb expertise over the coming weeks and months.

BWH seek to improve the experience for all the women, babies and families. Donations can help to offer opportunities such as welfare services to support patients through difficult times and conversations, as well as innovative equipment to make processes more efficient and enhance patient experiences

Why #TeamRedCross?

Whether it’s in the UK or abroad in Gaza, Lebanon, Sudan and Ukraine, I can't help but feel like the British Red Cross has never been needed more.

Through conflict, flooding or food shortages and fires, families and communities are facing unimaginable hardship.

No matter how difficult or dangerous things get, the British Red Cross is ready to face these challenges, bringing comfort and aid when all hope and humanity feels lost.

£5 could provide a community in Bangladesh with training on water sanitation and hygiene, helping people keep themselves healthy after a disaster.

£12 could buy a hygiene pack for a refugee or person seeking asylum in the UK, giving them access to some of the basics no one should go without.

£20 could give a parent in the UK the essential items they need to care for a newborn baby, when they have lost everything due to flooding.

£50 could help a family in Nigeria prepare for when severe flooding hits again.

£75 could keep 150 survivors of a fire at a block of flats in the UK warm, while we support them to find emergency accommodation for the night

Thank you for all your support, whether that's by donating, joining me on a run, saying a few encouraging words, looking after my children so I can manage to do the longer runs (!) or cheering me on the day!
