Story
On 17th October, Graham, Matt, Nick and Stewart are running The Dramathon. And yes, this is definitely a combination of whisky and running in Scotland!
The Dramathon is a wonderful marathon following the Speyside Way, starting at Glenfarclas Distillery and finishing at Glenfiddich. Along the way we pass a number of distilleries and are conveniently presented with a miniature from each one — at the end!!
The four of us grew up together, played rugby together at Helensburgh Rugby Club and now plod together at Helensburgh Athletics Club for fun and to keep some semblance of fitness.
Stewart’s wife, Tricia, was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease 8 years ago, and through Tricia, Stewart and their family we have become very aware of the impact this devastating degenerative disease can have on individuals and their families.
There is still a lack of awareness about Huntington’s disease, and the Scottish Huntington’s Association is a brilliant charity providing personalised support to families affected by it.
We are certainly not seasoned marathon runners, but the four of us are going to run hard together and do our very best to raise as much money as possible to support the charity’s work and help raise awareness.
If you are able to make a donation, however large or small, we would be incredibly grateful. Thank you for supporting us — and, much more importantly, for supporting Tricia, Stewart and all the families affected by Huntington’s disease.
