Raising money for Alzheimer's Society

Yorkshire Three Peaks -Saturday · 26 June 2021 ·

Conquer these summits in one day surrounded by people who are trekking for loved ones, and raise money so together we can find a cure.

Story

The Peaky Climbers, consisting of 14 colleagues who met at Serco, have decided to embark on the challenge of trekking the Yorkshire Three Peaks on 26th June 2021. The trek is 26 miles, taking around 9 - 12 hours.

We are raising money for Alzheimer's Society which provides such fantastic support, particularly in what must be incredibly difficult, confusing and lonely times.

Dementia is the UK's biggest killer with somebody developing it every 3 minutes with no cure currently. Alzheimer's Society provides support services, strives for community inclusivity and investing into research to find a cure.

Since lockdown began, Alzheimer's Society have:

- Made 170,000 welfare calls to people affected by dementia.

- Received over 30,000 calls to the Dementia Connect Support Line.

- Helped over 3,000 people combat loneliness.

- Pushed the government to respond to the growing crisis in care homes.

- Provided reliable online support to hundred of thousands of people (with over 630,000 views of their coronavirus information).
